Costa Rica, world’s primary ecotourism destination, is like Hawaii with beaches of world-wide category, tropical forests, volcanic topography, resorts of world-wide scale, etc.

The country has an abundance of microclimates and a temperature average in the country oscillating between 70-90F (21-32C). Those two factors have produced simultaneously a wealth of the fauna and the flora, turning them of richest of the planet. Moreover, offers many activities: jungle trekking, diving, snorkeling, sport fishing, surf, rafting, canopy, etc.

It has also all the comforts and modern technologies of the North America. With the greatest percentage of American residents per capita than any other country outside the United States, Costa Rica is only 2 flight hours from Miami.

Costa Rica is also a sturdy democracy which has managed to avoid political unrest and remain a peaceful nation. The country has no army, for example - it was abolished in 1949 –, and is known and recognized by the United Nations for its peace, neutral position, education and heath of its citizens.

Thanks to its investment politic, politic stability, nature, etc., becomes today the new touristic and real estate eldorado on a world level. Actually,  the country is facing to the increasing number of North American and European visitors discovering as an ecological paradise.

Due to the fact, Costa Rica is becoming an international destination, it will have to manage problems such as Hawaii and the Caribbean : development infrastructure, air flight capacity, nature protection, etc. The real threat for the country could be in becoming victim of its own success.

As resort and real estate development proliferate, the government and developers have to manage two visions and aspects.

First of all, country´s government will have to balance the inevitable tension between tourist demands and the need to preserve the ecological purity of .

Second at all, local population has to receive and indulge a part of its development in terms of infrastructure, jobs, etc.

“ We do not have to focused in a simple development of tourism but in a tourism of development in harmony with nature."
